Let the Professional Heating and A/C People Handle It
So, the faulty valve switch allowed the heat exchanger to get too hot and then crack.
I toil on our lake house and vehicles all the time. Being a bit handy has saved myself and others so much money over all these years. I was raised by a father who felt it was imperative to be able to do your own work. He and I spent a fantastic deal of time laboring on cars, sodmowers and anything at all that had any sort of motor. I’ve carried that over to our adult life. This week I recognize fairly at ease laboring on our cars even in the age of technology. I also never order parts from the dealer. The same thing ought to toil for Heating and A/C right? Turns out, not so much. The furnace went down a few months back. Being the handy type, I figured I’d have a look prior to placing a service call to the Heating and A/C folks. Turns out that the simply appeared to be easily simple. I found there was a valve switch which had apparently burned out. It felt savor a no brainer so I went online to order a substitutement part. I put the current area in and the furnace cranked right up. I was patting myself on the back all the way upstairs and for weeks after. However, that joy was short lived. About a month later, the furnace made a horrendous bang and instantly shut down. And it was smoking. I called the Heating and A/C guy immediately. The non OEM area I bought on the internet was faulty. So, the faulty valve switch allowed the heat exchanger to get too hot and then crack. This pretty much destroyed our furnace. And now, the manufacturer won’t honor the warranty because I used a non OEM area and did the toil myself. This attempt at being Mr! Handy is going to cost me.
