I should just stick to the cheap stuff

I grew up with two very cheap parents, so now that I am an adult I am not a big time fan of making expensive purchases. Pretty much everything that I own is secondhand, from my shoes to my car. My cheap habits have started to drive my girlfriend a little crazy, because she comes from a family that has much more money and loves to splurge on all of the latest and greatest things. She has been telling me for weeks and weeks to get rid of my old and run down heating and cooling unit in my apartment, but I don’t think that is a good idea. It doesn’t work that well and it is so loud that it wakes me up at night, but it still gets the job done! I kept on ignoring her and telling her I would in a year or so, and then out of nowhere my “old and reliable” heating and cooling unit broke down on me in the middle of the night. I realized this because I woke up in the middle of the night freezing my rear end off. Long story short, my girlfriend found out and dragged me to the local HVAC heating and cooling company to shop for a brand new HVAC unit. All of them seemed nice, but the price tags sure didn’t. I ended up getting pressured into getting the cheapest one by my girlfriend, and now I am the new owner of a brand new HVAC heating and cooling unit. I guess we will see how great it turns out to be, but at the moment I just wish I had my old unit back.
