I noticed some problems with my heater
Ever since the start of fall, my fiance have noticed the house has been a bit chilly. We’re fairly new to it, so we figured this was just the house, and left it at that. After we had a free weekend to go over the home outside and out, checking out weatherstripping and looking for gaps and cracks that could cause a draft, we turned the thermostat up a bit higher and left it at that. However, the colder its been getting, the colder our house is getting. Reading on the couch one night, curled up with the cat and the dog, we noticed in the quiet that the central heater was constantly running. For those handful of hours, it never stopped running. What if something was wrong with the heating and air conditioning? The whole home is so new, we didn’t think we’d need an HVAC inspection in our first year. Finally, we had to cave and give our heating and air conditioning service provider a call. My fiance was starting to get a little worried as time went on, concerned that we might be in serious trouble here. On the day the HVAC contractor arrived, I was close to biting my nails I was so nervous. My fiance sat in the kitchen with me while we had tea; he held my hand the whole time. We didn’t have a new oil furnace in our budget. When the HVAC contractor came back upstairs an hour later, he had some good news and some bad news. The good news was that we had nothing to worry about with our oil furnace–it was still in great shape. The bad news was that there were gaps in the ductwork that needed to be resealed. Fortunately, a ductwork sealing it substantially less money than a major oil furnace repair.
